Day 155 21st December
36miles (Malaga to Frigiliana) Average speed 11.8 mph Top speed 26 mph
A beautiful day. Up early and checked out after brekkie of tea and cereal. The sun was glorious as I left Malaga along the beach front. Once I ran out of cycle path I joined the main road N340 and raced along with the sun beaming down on my right. Before long I’d made it to Benarafe where I stopped for a large bottle of Fanta Limon and some magdelenas for lunch. I didn’t bother Raul as I wanted to push on, but I gave a beggar some coins for looking after my bike while I was in the shop and then bumped into Santa Claus who was giving out sweets.

Santa Claus
Had lunch on a bench by the beach with a guy who had been working out on the beach gym. Listened to his music while I sat next to him and laid out on the bench to stretch my back.
Then continued into Torre del Mar where I stopped once again on the beach to polish off my Fanta. This time two girls were sat at the bench next to me. So I also enjoyed their music.

Lunch stop
I continued to Nerja but stopped for lunch of patatas bravas and sardines at the Cabin bar.
(Ermintrude ; you are definitely turning into a Hobbit – How many lunches today?)
A change of shorts was needed as it was warm and I had been pushing much harder than usual. It felt good to work up a sweat on the road again. I sustained a high average until I had to climb the last 5 miles to Frigiliana, which felt tough after cycling 30 miles, even though I was only carrying two panniers, as I left the heavy stuff at Mandy’s; I made it in one go and rewarded myself at Brian’s barrel bar with a beer.

Arrived!
Met Vernon, Nola and an excited Bailey, rested and unpacked. Then watched the sunset at the barrel bar before having dinner and an early night.
