Still staying with Kamal
Awake at 8 with Aman and Yousan in bed with me. Anders is packed and ready to go but heavy rain meant he came to the souk with us in a taxi. After another hearty breakfast we went to a massive market and waded through puddles and mud looking at the great array of products.
We saw sheep heads, cows heads, whole live animals, whole dead animals and lots of fruit and spices.
Shoe and clothes stalls, new and secondhand. We went for coffee in a cafe with wifi and once again Kamal wouldn’t let us pay for anything!
Back at the house Kamal bid farewell to Anders and I cycled with him for 12 miles and chatted along the way.
Then I turned back as Kamal phoned to say he was waiting to eat, so I cycled back in 35 minutes and when I got back a bit sweaty, Asaf, his brother, brought me hot water to wash my feet and sent my socks away to be washed by the girls of the house. We then went to the shop for a while, had coffee and I served a few customers and met a few who were the worse for wear after a Sunday of beers or hash.
Back to the house for another fantastic tagine with Kamal’s parents and I chatted on the phone to his brother in Fes.
Asaf dried my socks draped over his feet in front of the gas fire and we took some photos and had an early night.
