Day 222 26th February
43miles (Errachidia to Er Rich) Average speed 10.4 mph Top speed 42.2 mph – my fastest true speed reading yet
Yet another great day
Up at 8 and over to pizza restaurant for crepe with samosa filling – first time cooking this in restaurant with very weak coffee.
(Ermintrude : not quite sure what this means, whether it was the first time the restaurant had cooked the dish, or the first time Brian had had it)
Back and packed up quickly, on the road by 9.45, stopped at Ziz garage for better coffee and a jet wash for the bike. I just gave the guy a few dirham for helping me.

Then I hit the road and it was pretty flat and some downhill for the first 6 miles. Then it was a climb up to the reservoir and the scenery was spectacular; as I stopped to change my shorts and have a drink I saw my first vulture of Morocco.

There were lots of ups and downs and then a very big climb to the top. It was tough but very rewarding once I’d made it. As I sat on a wall admiring the landscape in the next valley a guy offered me a camel made from grass, I declined the offer but asked him to take a photo.

Then he started begging for anything and everything including my helmet, not sure what he planned to do with it but hey-ho. I gave him a few dirham for taking the photo and took on the descent – it was magnificent and I broke my speed record at 42.2 mph. Then I went through a tunnel and found myself at the bottom at a riverbed.
