Day 226 2nd March
48 miles (Bouleman to Sefrou) Average speed 10.4 mph Top speed 34 mph
I was awake at 6 with the wind howling down the chimney, up at 7, brekkie of fried eggs, bread and jam with coffee and tea.

Said farm gite
I said goodbye to Said and left up a steep drive, then along the 1.5 km track which wasn’t as bad in the light of day. I went uphill to start and with the wind at my left side. I struggled to get going and stopped quite a few times in the first 1.5 hours, many different things bothered me. I was too cold, then too hot in the climbs.

Too hot, too cold, too uncomfortable
My tights were uncomfortable and I needed regular drink stops. Eventually after a good talking to, I stopped on a big incline, took off my tights, hat and thick gloves and made an energy drink. I knew there was nothing for at least 20 miles and I was pretty miserable but the change and the talking to did me good.

Birdsong and green trees
With the wind behind me and little things like a ladybird or birdsong or the green of the pine trees all cheered me up. Also cars and people cheering me on up the big climb raised my enthusiasm.

Tent under the trees
I arrived in Sefrou and set up camp, feeling a little better.
