Day 246 22nd March
54 miles (Montpelier to Nimes) Average speed 11.1 mph Top speed 25 mph
I got up at 7 and made tea and brekkie of smoked salmon on toast with Camembert. I charged my phone at James the traveller’s plug while I cleaned the bike chain and made a cover for the lock from inner tube .Once my phone was charged, I made some calls and then left at midday. I found the main road, but after a while in the traffic, went for the side roads. Lots of weaving around but I found some lovely villages on the way. I stopped for a drink at a canal and spoke to a local cyclist, then went for a peek at the Perrier museum, but didn’t bother going to see the factory.

Perrier museum
I carried on along the busy road and just as it looked like rain I found the campsite I was heading for, but at 20€ a night and full of kids, I carried on to Caissargues? where I went for a coffee, after spending ages looking for a gite near the hotel de ville, which is obviously not a hotel but the town hall!! I tried to charge my phone but the cable was not working and the barman didn’t know of the gite so I headed for Nimes.
Hotel Acanthe 40€ Double bed wifi and a garage for the bike.
