Day 270 15th April
46miles (Selongey to Val De Meuse) Average speed 9.9 mph Top speed 37 mph
When I turned on the radio last night the first song I heard was “I can hear clearly now the rain has gone” today I see the irony in this!!. I was up at 7 and enjoyed bacon and eggs with 3 teas at my picnic table. Then I headed up a small hill to turn left onto the D974, which is a straight road to Langres but after 40 minutes there was a diversion sign as the road was closed, so I went east instead of being diverted onto the motorway.

Diversion
This meant I got to see lots of lovely quiet quaint villages but it also meant I had to climb up many hills. At least I had a great time on the way down sometimes reaching 37mph but it was hard work on the way up as I was trying to take my momentum to get back up the other side.

Chateau de Pailly
I eventually found Chateau Camping but not before the rain started and it made it tough getting to the supermarket to buy dinner.
Fortunately it stopped for long enough for me to cook pasta but started again as I was halfway through eating it so I had to rally round to get everything under cover. At least I got a great hot shower and hid my bike out of the rain.
