Day 338 22nd June
20miles (Oskarshamm to Alvedsjo) Average speed 10.1 mph Top speed 20 mph
I was awake at 6 but got back to sleep for a while. Luckily I woke at 6.45 because my phone battery died even though it had been 55% when I went to sleep and the alarm would not have gone off. No tea, so I was all over the place! I couldn’t find my charger and emptied the same bag twice before finding it in the other one. Doh! That was dead too, so I tried to charge with solar but there was not enough sun. I packed and left by 7.30 having misplaced my mattress bag and with my head in a spin, I must drink tea first!!!
I got to the ferry after no luck finding a cafe and had no cash. So I went to the Coop to buy coffee but couldn’t get cash out. It was not a problem as I paid on the boat with card while buying another coffee. It was a good crossing taking only 2hrs 20 minutes instead of 3 hours and despite the cloud it was good to sit outside to watch the sea.

Watching the sea
I followed the same path I had cycled before, but this time with two panniers, which was tricky at times.

the path is more difficult when fully loaded
I met a German tourer coming the other way and stopped for a chat. After a while the sun came out and I even managed a paddle and wash in the sea before arriving at Stephan’s.

Refreshed – after a paddle
On arrival I had a beer with Maria. Then Stephan arrived and we went to the Lamb and Pig bar for wine on the sun terrace; followed by dinner of hot dogs back at the house. I said hi to Kiki and Jimmy as they arrived from Stockholm to prepare for midsummer party.

Lots of Midsummer parties go on
