Day 365 19th July
48 miles (Zeestow to Strodehn) Average speed 11.6 mph Top speed 23 mph
Up at 9 for brekkie of tea, bread and pate. I took my time to pack up in sunshine and washed my mattress but forgot to close the valve first so it’s now a waterbed. I left at 11.30 after a shower and checking emails. I went through Zeestow and headed for Nauen. The roads were good with some good cycle paths too.

Long straight roads and paths
There were few places to find food or drink but I eventually stopped for a rest by lake, where I was joined by a couple taking photos of their pregnancy. They were very happy but I’m not sure she could decide which dress to wear so as I put my rubbish in the bin I caught her in her bra and knickers changing. As I left I think she was half into her third dress and half naked.
I tried to follow a very dodgy path but ended up at a very grassy canal path which ran out after about a mile. So I had to go back and follow the rough path for several miles through farmland until I got back to the road.

Through farmland
I was hoping to find a shop soon for a cold drink as it was 29 degrees C today but just before Friesack I found a van selling wurst with potato salas and a cold apple juice. I’m not sure how hygienic it was and the man had a very stained jumper but it certainly filled a hole! Just as I was getting tired a cyclist going the other way gave me a nod and that perked me up. It came at just the right time as I needed a boost.
I carried on to Rhinow and bought a cold drink and some deodorant. It looked as though I would have to do another 15 miles to the campsite after next, as this one sounded like a water park for kids, but on arrival there was no-one around so I checked out the local bar who gave me a beer and two for dinner and said there is a number to call.

One to drink

Two to cool

Peaceful evening
As I was cooking a man and his wife were leaving the marina and I asked if I could camp. Wolfgang was really nice despite my lack of German and we agreed the set price of 5€ with use of toilet and shower. As his wife Renata was waiting for him we tried to chat and she offered me a chocolate liqueur for my dessert.
A good day back to proper miles, even though it didn’t feel that great at the time.
