Day 369 23rd July
49 miles (Tangermunde to Ploetsky) Average speed 9.2 mph Top speed 19 mph
I was awake at 6 with heavy rain but didn’t get up until 8.30 with 9 other cyclists preparing to leave. I really should have spent more time with them rather than going to Black Moon pub last night. A very interesting bunch including a Japanese guy but I didn’t really talk to many of them. I need to be more outgoing and chat with other cyclists. I packed up and chatted to a girl from Berlin and had brekkie of bread and pate.
I followed the cycle path along the Elbe but ignored signs sending me left and carried on along the path; I ended up in a field in thick mud. I tried to follow the tractor path but was getting quite bogged down. Eventually I made it back to the path and carried on. I got to a road and turned right when I should have gone left but at least I got to see a pretty windmill.
Then I went back the same way to get the ferry across the Elbe again for 2.50€ I must have done this four or five times now!!
On the other side I was greeted by more road resurfacing but at least the cycle path was in reasonable order. I was getting desperate for a cold drink by now and found a garage which was the only place open on a Sunday.
Camping 13.50€ Plotsky Holiday Park
