Day 370 24th July
53 miles (Ploeztky to Sandersdorf Brehna) Average speed 10.5 mph Top speed 19 mph
Awake at 8.30 with brekkie of Bratwurst rolls x 3 and tea. Thankfully the sun was shining as I packed up as the forecast was for thunderstorms at 8 but it was a lovely morning. I followed the B184 for quite a while before stopping to buy lunch and have an ice lolly. I decided to carry on to Dessau to have lunch in a park but I didn’t find the park only lots of cobbled street!
I got back to the B183 and then the cycle path took me into the woods and a very overgrown path but I got through and found a wooden cabin to have lunch.
It was 3pm by now and I needed food. Then it got very dark and the rain came. It’s now 6pm and it’s still raining. I tried to get to a campsite but was thwarted by a river that had no bridges so I carried on and got back to the B1833 that I had left earlier. When I got to Sandersdorf the Volkswagen bank refused to give me cash but I found a sparks saw (Ermintrude; Sparkasse?) and bought chicken for dinner.
Then the road I needed to take to get to the campsite was closed for resurfacing, but I carried on anyway, otherwise it was a very long way round.
I came to a beach next to the lake and they gave me directions to carry on. Then I went back there for a beer.
I met Richard and Helena from Leipzig and we chatted till 1am. A lovely couple and they spoke excellent English. He makes films so it was good to chat about work.
Camping next to lake 8€
