Day 384 7th August
43 miles (Batzdorf to Konigstein) Average speed 10.6 mph Top speed 23 mph
I was up at 8.30 and chatted to a German teacher who was on a weeks tour to Dresden and back, but I had no food for brekkie and you had to have ordered bread the day before at reception so nothing for me. So I left at 10.15 and soon found a bakers for bread rolls and coffee, but the first one she spilt over the counter when I asked for milk. I followed the Elbe path all the way to Dresden, which turned out to be a beautiful city with some amazing buildings, but I only stopped long enough for lunch bought from Aldi.
When I left the shop I helped a woman get the lock out of her front wheel and seconds later I retrieved a ball from the middle of the road and returned it to a playground full of children, happy to have their ball back. Then I had lunch overlooking the river and some very impressive buildings opposite.
I followed the river cycle path all the way to Konig and was set up by 5.30. So I went in search of a supermarket and bought chicken with pasta for dinner. A young couple checked in just after me and looked new to camping, so when they struggled getting tent pegs in I found them a nearby brick to help.
