Day 409 1st September
Zagreb
Day off bike.
I was up late as I was kept awake by my room mates arriving back from the bar crawl and the lovely Catholic girl, who was earlier telling me that she knows how to dress to go into a cathedral, was taken by the hand by the naked guy sleeping above me into the bathroom to enjoy each other’s company. He returned some time later and she then stood naked in front of me asking him where her knickers were!
So I didn’t wake til gone 10. I went down to the kitchen to make tea, but the milk I bought yesterday was already off. So I went to supermarket to buy fresh bread and milk. Then I cooked an omelette with cheese and mushrooms and watched some tv while my phone charged. By the time I’d showered and was ready to go out a thunderstorm had started so I stayed in and checked my emails and booked the hostel for the next two nights as the weather forecast is not good. While in the bathroom I put my toilet bag on a shelf above the cistern and it fell in while taking a pee. So I gave it a good wash and it certainly needed it!

Botanical gardens
I left the hostel about 3, as the rain was subsiding and walked into town via a few bike shops in search of degreaser, without luck once again. It turned into a long walk which took in the horse shoe of parks and buildings along with the beautiful botanical park. Then back through town to the cathedral and I went in to look but it was very dark inside.

Inside the cathedral
I listened to the walking tour guide for a while, but didn’t fancy another 2 hours walking, so headed back to the bar I was in last night; Ziraffa, near the hostel, which was once again very busy with locals.

How many screens do you want to watch?
Sitting in a bookies bar in Zagreb having a beer is just like being back at work. I don’t know which screen to watch there are so many games going on, and the tennis, but it looks like England haven’t got any better since I’ve been away.
