Day 466 29th October
32 miles (Souk al Arba du Gharb to Ben Mansour) Average speed 12 mph Top speed 19 mph
It’s good to be on the flats but open to the winds.
I got up at 8.30 and went down to brekkie of hasha bread & cheese with coffee while being attacked by flies. I went back to my room to wash and shave, which flooded the room as water ran straight through the sink onto the floor. I checked with the boss, who said I could check out at 12 so I went in search of gifts again. Then back to pack and leave and I nearly forgot my computer as I’d left it on the bed. The waiter opened the back door for me and asked for 10 dirham for looking after the bike, bloody cheek, I tipped him yesterday for taking my bags up. That’s what tipping does it breeds an expectant culture, I know it’s only a pound but it’s the principle.
I had a coffee in the bar from last night with the very friendly waiter, who I was happy to tip, as he’d already said good day to me as I was walking along the street earlier. I made some calls and looked at the Souk but couldn’t find much to buy so I left. I hit the very long flat road out of town, the shoulder was good and I was flying along. I stopped for a cold bottle of lemon at a small shop and the boys were having a laugh with me. Then it was back to the road and I put in a good shift in the heat and with the wind coming from my right, but hadn’t eaten since brekkie and needed a boost.
Kamal’s house.
