Day 509 11th December
8 miles (Porto de Galinas to Maracaipe) Average speed 8.9 mph Top speed 17 mph
I got up at 8.30 for black tea, but there was no food for brekkie. I found a campsite 2 miles away and Frankie and I cycled there to check it out. The camping was good and cheap at 20 raes so we went back to tell the others and then cycled there, stopping to buy food on the way. Juan and Danny got there soon after us and had a dormitory so we could all stay together. It had WiFi and a kitchen so all good. We had cheese and chorizo sarnies with salad and then walked all of 50 yards to the beach to enjoy the big waves and sunbathe.
Danny went for a walk along the beach and found a good bar to watch the sunset but it was a 25 minute walk so we took a beach buggy taxi ride to get there for 12 raes.
We saw a river with some very colourful boats and then went to the beach bar to enjoy a swim in the river, a few beers and a good sunset over the palm trees. The beer was a bit pricey at 15 a bottle but somebody had left their dinner on the table so we unashamedly polished off the fish, chips and salad.
Then we walked back to the campsite and bought some beer and brekkie on the way. The guys chopped and prepped and I cooked pasta with chicken, tomatoes and onion with chilli flakes which they seemed to enjoy. We sat chatting about all sorts despite the campsite having a powercut and I was first to bed at 10.45. A good day of rest.
Casa em camping 20raes.
