Day 526 28th December
54 miles (Abais to Conde) Average speed 9.1 mph Top speed 40 mph
We were up early and said goodbye to our Argentine friend. We were ready to leave by 6.30 but our host offered us breakfast at 7 so we decided to wait. It was a good brekkie with scrambled eggs and plenty to eat but it certainly wasn’t worth the 16.50 he charged us for it.
We then left at 8 and had another day of ups and downs with a couple of large bridges thrown in too, the one across Rio Piauí was quite impressive.

One village we passed was made up entirely of thatched houses.

It turned out to be quite a tough day with lots of climbs and we camped next to a river in Conde.

Some tough hills – up and down all the way
We had a beer while watching footy and aerobics on a field next to us, then I cooked dinner of pasta. We chatted for a while but were tired after a long day so were in bed early.
