Day 597 9th March 2018
24 miles (Indaia to Guaruja) Average speed 10.8 mph Top speed 24 mph
I got up at 9 and had a good omelette with cheese and tomato with coffee and OJ. I chatted about Brazil and USA with Rodrigo.

Leaving the hostel in Indaia
I left at 12 and set off along the beach road with some cloud cover. The road was good once I got away from the beach through a flooded sandy road. Then on to Bertioga but the computer battery was running low so had to keep track of distance. I took the ferry across to Ilha de Prainha which was free for bikes and pedestrians.

Ferry
A few spots of rain met me but it didn’t last long and I made my way to the other side of the island to have lunch on a beach where I met a couple on motorbikes who chatted for a while. Then made my way to the hostel and met a good bunch in the pool including Sebastian, the German whose cup I trod on in the hostel three days ago in Maresias. I went to Carrefour to buy batteries which I found in a watch shop as I bought brekkie and beer. Back at the hostel I chatted and drank before going to get more beer with Wesley and Sebastian and got food then swam in the pool and we all went to the beach.

Beach
I didn’t get to bed til 3 am but had a good night.
