Day 607 19th March 2018
Sao Paulo
20 miles (Vila Madelina to Tapuate) Average speed 6.8 mph Top speed 32 mph
I got up at 9.30 for brekkie of coffee and biscuits. The girl working in the hostel, sharing my room, commented on the fact that I was a good singer as I’d been singing during the night! I showered and left at 12.30 to take a steady ride across town. I took my time and followed mainly cycle paths. I found a few sights along the way but nowhere to park my bike safely to explore them.
The big market was impressive and then I found my way east, but a massive thunderstorm meant that I had to stop for lunch in a self service restaurant while it passed.
I sheltered under a canopy for a while and then set off once it had cleared.
Then I went the wrong way and had to backtrack to get across the railway lines, which took me back to where I started and I went on a footpath across the bridge and found my way to Vinis house. With time to spare I went to find a park, but they were either closed or had no benches.
I found an impressive park with security guards who told me to leave the bike outside but I felt safe knowing they were there looking over it. I went for a walk and saw some woodpeckers and sat at the top of a hill looking over the city.
Vinis house. Free!
