Day 622 3rd April 2018
34 miles (Vargem Grande Paulista to Sorocaba) Average speed 11.8 mph Top speed 41 mph
I got up at 7 for brekkie of cornflakes with hot milk and bread and jam with lots of coffee.
I showered after killing a rather large cockroach who wanted to share my shower. I tried to put him out of the window but he chased me around the bathroom so he had to feel the wrath of my shoe. After showering he came back to life from playing dead, well it is Easter.
I checked out accommodation in a couple of places and had to decide which road to take. I chose to come here as there were more options. At first the road had no hard shoulder and a very big climb but after a while it improved and I had some space to myself. There was rain on the way and after a big climb I decided to carry on to the next town between showers, where I found a ranch for two espitos of pork and beef, while hiding from the downpour and a couple of sweet coffees to give me a boost. The rain stopped and after a good chat I carried on up the hills.

Lunch stop
Then after a long climb it was downhill all the way and although getting sprayed by lorries and buses, it was good fun. The next downpour saw me resting at a shopping mall and finding WiFi from a very helpful girl in bio friend, so I bought a drink and booked a hotel. Once again the rain subsided long enough for me to climb up and down a few hills and find the hotel with only a few spots of rain.

Going out to find some dinner
The receptionist was very helpful and took my bags while showing me to a room for my bike via the lift. Then he showed me to a room, but it hadn’t been cleaned so he found me another. It is a shared room with two single beds but so far I have it to myself. I may stay an extra night if the weather forecast is not good, but for now I’m happy to have a clean room with fresh sheets to myself. It’s quite a strange town with lots of girls of the night and not many restaurants or bars.

Dinner
Hostel sorocaba 50 reais + 15 for brekkie.
