Day 627 8th April 2018
46 miles (Angatuba to Campos de Holambra) Average speed 8 mph Top speed 29 mph
What a tough day. 20 miles of sand and stones. Followed by 26 miles of busy broken roads.
I got up at 8 for a very good brekkie of sausage rolls, toasted ham and cheese sarnie, cake and melon and coffee with very fresh OJ.
I went to look for sunglasses without success. Then I left at 9.30 and the road out of town, sp268, was not as hilly as I expected, but after two miles it turned to sand and stones.

A road of sand and stones
The next 20 miles were spent tackling sand, rocks, mud and nowhere to get a drink of water.

It got worse; 20 miles of sand, rocks and stones
I did eventually find a house with a tap outside, only to be attacked by a dog, which the owners were happy to let terrify me while preparing their lunch. Thanks! With the dog barking and chasing me up the hill I had to push the bike through thick sand to get to the top.
