Day 653 4th may 2018
Foz do Iguaco
Day off the bike.
I got up at 6.30 and had brekkie at 7 ready for a taxi to pick me up and take me to another hotel to pick up my Argentinian money and pick up two more Brazilian passengers. We left at 8.30 and headed to the border where I was informed that I had overstayed my visa by 56 days and would need to pay 5600 reais if I wanted to go into Argentina and return to Brazil. So I waited 40 minutes while the taxi took the couple to the falls and came back for me. It was a long wait and I was furious with myself for breaking the rules. I was sure I had 180 days but it turned out that was only the case if I had applied for a new visa before the first 90 were up. Doh!!!
Junior, the taxi driver was kind enough to take me back to the second hotel where the receptionist Dan really tried to help and even rang the federal police who said that I wouldn’t have to pay if I left the country and only had to pay on my return. Junior then took me back to my hotel where I celebrated my birthday with a few beers around the pool and a pizza and bottle of prosecco in my room listening to radio 2. What a good way to spend my birthday, but it was better than risking life out on the streets as an illegal immigrant!!

Birthday celebration
A big thank you goes out to Ernie who has delivered a wonderful £175 prize fund for May. Happy birthday me!
