Day 672 23rd May 2018
31 miles (Apostoles to Gobernador Virasoro) Average speed 10.1 mph Top speed 29 mph
I was up late after waiting for the sun to break through the trees. There was no water in the toilets but I had enough to make tea. I wasn’t hungry so just had a Magdalena for brekkie. I left and found water on the way out.
I turned left out of the campsite and the road I needed turned out to be sand and rocks with lorries and cars creating a dust cloud, not the best of starts. I chose a short day today and with the wind in my face, this was a wise move. The 25 miles seemed a lot tougher and the NR 14 became a single lane road with no hard shoulder when I reached it after 10 miles going uphill most of the way.

Single lane road – dusty and uncomfortable
I had a few rolls of ham and chorizo at the junction with the wind at my back and needed my fleece to keep me warm. A motorcycle rider chatted and warned me of the “frio” conditions, but I told him that I was hot from the exertion of pedalling. A couple of lorry drivers also wished me well for my journey.
Camping azalias cabanes 200 pesos.
