Day 677 28th May 2018
68 miles (La Cruz to Paso de Los Libros) Average speed 14.7 mph Top speed 27 mph
I was awake at 7.30 with wild horses braying around my tent and up at 8.30 for brekkie of tea and empanadas with Patch the dog.
The fire took a while to get going in the strong wind, but I had Patch to keep me company. I packed up and left at 10. I found the road out of town, but as seems to be the case with all but the main roads, it was once again sand and stones so I went back to the main RN 14.

RN 14; the best option despite the logging trucks
The wind was strong and there was not much in terms of garages and certainly no towns en route, so I got an orange drink at the first garage and had a wash. It proved to be another good day with the wind behind me and I was only run off the road twice today; both times by logging trucks. I got to a junction and it was 6 miles to the campsite, so I decided to push on and hoped to find a hotel.
The next chance of a turn off to a town again turned out to be a sand and stone affair, so I chose to carry on and make good use of the wind. This now meant that I had another 25 miles before the next garage or any civilisation so I pulled over for some jammy biscuits and water and kept going.
I made it to the hotel and had a good dinner
