I was up at 9.30 and spoke to Lucas and we chatted to Anya from Karlsruhe over brekkie of toast and peanut butter and then deciided to go to Bintan by ferry.

Brian and Lucas ready to set off
By the time we had packed and were ready to leave it was 12.45 so we weren’t going to make the 2 pm ferry, so found the east coast park and took our time as the next ferry was at 1700. We stopped for lunch halfway and I had a chicken curry with rice and iced tea while Lucas had veg with rice and a coffee.
It rained quite heavily while we ate lunch and then calmed down a bit by the time we set off again. We still managed to get wet as we got to the port and I changed my shirt while checking in. It cost 78 dollars for the return and we will now return on Thursday evening.

Welcome to Indonesia
On arrival we had gained an hour but after finding apartments we decided that they were too expensive at 600,000 rupiah so we continued riding into the night, hoping to find somewhere better. After a couple of hours we found a place for food. Then we went in search of a hotel, but the only available option was a complex with a damp room for 500 with no hot water or WiFi, so I suggested we would be better off camping.
We found a temple and asked if we could camp on their stage. The tent I borrowed had a pole missing but I managed to get it up with a piece of stage tower and had a rough nights sleep on hard floor.

Camping at a temple on the stage in a tent I borrowed from the hostel.
