Day 883 20th December 2018
54 miles (Tana Ratah to Samping Pulai) Average speed 12.1 mph Top speed 40 mph
What a great downhill day.
We got up at 8 for brekkie of rice in banana leaf with spicy sauce and toast with jam. We finally left at 10.45 and started the climb to Brinchang. Entering the village I passed all the cars that had overtaken me, in a massive traffic jam, which was satisfying.

I waited for Lucas at the top and felt a bit out of place in cycling shorts with lots of Muslim women in burkas. I went to briefly see the lavender gardens and while I took photos, Lucas went past without me noticing I had a coffee and waited for him, but after a while I carried on and caught him up at the top of a hill. We had lunch at a garden centre of tuna sarnie.
From there it was downhill for the next 20+ miles which was fantastic but Lucas was struggling with another slow puncture and was not happy.

We pumped it up at a garage and then went in search of a hotel, but the first two were not great and rather smokey so we eventually found this one and the guy at reception was friendly and we checked in. I went for a beer from 7/11 and then after a shower we went for dinner at a Chinese restaurant. My fried rice was a bit dry, but a dish of chicken chilli soon livened it and me up.
In bed by ten after a very long day.
Hotel Tropicana 90 ringgit for twin room.
