Day 905 11th January 2019
34 miles (Kota Bharu ) Average speed 10.7 mph Top speed 82?? I think it’s overheating
A nice quiet day!!
Up at 8.30 and had tea, then left at 9.30 and went to the songbird field where there is a competition every Friday and Saturday morning, which is judged to find the best songbird and it’s presentation. Lots of money was changing hands but I’m not sure how much of it was betting or prize money.

Then I had brekkie of curry soup with lots of veg, seafood and noodles, where I met a lovely couple who chatted about Malaysia and food and all sorts. Next it was onto the central market with lots of fish and fresh produce. I ventured upstairs to find dry fish and many herbs and spices.

I went back to the hostel for a rest and to pack my swim shorts and towel and headed for the beach, seven miles away. The fact that I was going into a headwind made it feel longer and I was happy to stop for an iced tea. At the beach the red flags were flying and the sea was rough so I didn’t venture further than a paddle.

I met three young guys and we chatted over another iced tea and when I went to pay they had already paid. I went back with the wind behind me in no time at all and went to the garden city pub for a couple of anchor beers. Then I showered, ironed my shirt and went in search of Indian food without success, but I met the Russian couple again while having Ayam and rice with good curry sauce.
