A day of talking.
I got up late as check out didn’t need to be until 1. It had been a cold night with aircon too low. I had coffee and an orange for brekkie and sat talking to Mohamad who works there for about two hours. It was great to talk about many different subjects and at quite some depth. He has very good English and enjoys practising it whenever he can. He is also learning Spanish and French.
It rained until I left at 4 and I tried a couple of bike shops en route to Tok’s house, but they only sold new bikes so still no adapter for me. I got close to Tok’s house and the the heavens opened and I took shelter under a barbers opposite a school and I said hi to a small boy was riding his bike in the rain, He didn’t seem to mind too much.
I crossed the road to a cafe but it was closed so I went to BJ Mart shop where I bought crisps and a cheesy roll and met Dayn, the owner who had lived in Munich studying. We chatted and he gave me his number to meet up for food later. I ventured out into the rain and the road was busy and narrow with many big puddles. I found the house and met Tok who showed me to his shed for the bike and my private room with an air bed, tv, tea and coffee and many books and films. We rested for a while before walking to a restaurant for dinner. We talked a lot and it was interesting to hear about his work in construction, he built his own house.
It was good to talk some more. Back at the house I used his WiFi hotspot and he went to the mosque next door. Then we chatted more and went for coffee and fried fish at same restaurant. By the time we got back it was gone midnight and I’d had a good day of many conversations.
Tok house, Warmshowers.
