Day 917 23rd January 2019
15 miles (Chereting) Average speed 9.5 mph Top speed 18 mph
An interesting restful day off of sorts.
I got up at 8 and had coffee and an orange for brekkie, followed by a second one with the two guys working at the site, of sausages and chips. We talked a lot and also chatted with Chris and Stephanie. I went for a swim to try and ease the sandfly rash that I had on my back due to not wearing a shirt last night. The salt helped a bit.
Then I read my book and chilled before going to find an ATM at the Shell garage. I bought some sardines for lunch with toast and some fishing tackle. I was just getting ready to go out to dinner with the Swiss when Stephanie called Chris and I to come and help at the beach. A four wheel drive Ford pick up had got stuck in the sand and was about to be engulfed by the incoming tide. Chris packed the tent in his roof while I ran down to take the tow rope to attach to the Ford. The car was full of water and sinking fast but we managed to rescue them just in time.

Anything’s possible!
We had a drink in the beach bar and then went to the eco bar for pizza. They went back to the campsite, but it was only 10.30, so I went to another bar on the beach and met the guy from the campsite. We had a few and then went on to the Monkey bar where I played pool and they sang karaoke.

I had a good chat with the German owner’s wife and didn’t get back until 3.30 in the rain. I slept on the sofa as my hammock was wet.
Camping 10 ringgit.
