Day 922 28th January 2019
55 miles ( Mersing to Sedili Besar) Average speed 13.3 mph Top speed 32 mph
A very wet day.
I got up at 9 and had brekkie at Syed Ali restaurant of two roti telur and coffee.
I packed up and left for the bike shop at 10.30 where I showed them the problem with the rack and they said they didn’t have any nuts. I’d seen a pile of floor sweepings in a hole, began to search and found exactly the right size nut and washer required. Then I used their tools to tighten it and was on my way, not before buying a spare valve adapter and thanking them.

A selection of nuts and washers discarded

The rain started so I stopped for a coffee with some very friendly waitresses in a Chinese restaurant. I could not put off my departure any more and ventured out into the rain. Once you’re wet, you’re wet and it didn’t take long! When it got really heavy I popped in to a bee farm and spoke with Ieen in the shop. Honey seemed a bit pricey and jars heavy so I went to leave, but she gave me some samples for the journey. Then it got really heavy and she invited me back in and supplied me with two bottles of water while I waited.

Wanna buy a fish?
Then it was back onto the 3 road, which now was full of puddles and I got sprayed by every car and lorry that passed. I had lunch in Jemaleuang of pork noodles and wantons with tea and watched as the fish man sold his wares. Back out into the rain and I needed to climb a few hills but it wasn’t too bad as my momentum usually carried me most of the way back up each hill.
