Day 932 7th February 2019
58 miles (Singapore to Pontian) Average speed 13 mph Top speed 30 mph
I got up at 7 for brekkie of tuna sarnies, cornflakes and coffee.
I left at 8.30 and found a new route to meet Sk. It took just under an hour and then we chatted for 1.5 hours. It was great to catch up but sad about the hostel having to close.

A long chat with Sk
Then it was onto the bridge, but I entered the wrong lane with auto machines for motos and I got stuck in the gate. The guy came over to release me and then I had to go into the passport office to be reprimanded, because I should have known as I’d been there before, but they checked my passport and let me go.
Once in Malaysia I took the main road west and then after a drink at a beach funfair I took the Iskandar coast highway. Then at Bukit Indah I came close twice within a minute. Firstly a guy was turning right across in front of me. I almost stopped and he did stop, but then carried on so I had to brake again and then I noticed he was holding his phone to his ear so I gave him some abuse. At the very next roundabout a girl tried to cut across into me on the inside lane and once again I was not very happy. At least she seemed to apologise that she hadn’t seen me.
Then I took the 17 highway and took refuge in a moto lay-by briefly to air my feet as I had foolishly put a detergent in my shoes in Singapore to ease the smell and now my feet were bubbling and sliding inside the shoes.

Pontian
Now I was flying along in the heat and soon made it to the J7 turn off where I took the road to Pontian. At the top I stopped for an iced coconut and the people were really friendly and gave me ice for water bottles. In Pekan Nanas I chose not to eat in same restaurant as last time I was here, as I knew the PCC would be feeding me up that night. I pushed on and then took a bridge across a river and took a quieter road into Pontian.
