A good day on quiet roads through paddy fields and palm trees.
I was awake from 3 am and couldn’t get back to sleep after other guests arrived noisily.
I got up at 7.30 and went for brekkie of two big roti telur and coffees. I returned to the hostel and rested for a while and left at 9. The main 5 road was busy, I soon turned off to the right and after 6 miles I got to the road alongside a river and a palm plantation. but not before having an iced tea and refilling my bottles with free ice. As usual i got chatting to a local about my trip.

I realised that the road was going to be long and straight for about 30 miles but there were places to stop en route. The road was quiet and peaceful along the river, I had a rest under a tree watching the fish feed and the many birds and monkeys. It was very hot and shade was a luxury.

I had lunch of 5 curry puffs and a fried veg pakora with a nice family roadside cafe and got talking again. They were all impressed by my story and I will be getting a very big head soon! They asked lots of the usual questions but were really nice and a local paddy field worker translated for me.Then it was time to cross the river on a local ferry to reach my next stop.
