Day 11 30/7/2016
51miles (Lisieux to Pont D’Ouilly) Average speed 9.5 mph Top speed 78.1 mph ( not sure we believe this, but the satnav never lies; (mocking laughter))
Left Lisieux a bit later than usual. I had a lie-in until 8.30. Went into Lisieux and it started to rain, so I hid under a tree until the rain stopped. Found plug adapter in square where I left it last night.Bonus! While charging batteries saw a man standing on horse, and they played Let It Snow on the town tannoy? Makes little sense to me!

Lisieux – tannoy playing Let It Snow!
Another hard day 50m but mostly uphill, some long climbs along d511. Big climb to start; I think every town is in a valley! Long hard climbs today. Every time I got to a peak I saw the bigger one ahead. At least 4 miles uphill at one stage but route d511 has a good bike lane.
Stopped at St.Julian for coffee and to hide from more rain. Met Wendy who had lived there for 15years and was a pleasure to talk to.

Saw William The Conqueror’s castle.

Then up and up d511 to Pont D’Ouilly – Wheeee! All the way down, great run to where a rock band greeted me.

Greeted by Rock Band on arrival at Pont D’Ouilly
Ate dinner and was in town for 9.30 but all bars closed and no restaurant would serve me! On a Saturday night this tourist attraction needs a bar that stays open!
