Day 90 17th October
41 miles (Frigiliana to Malaga) Average speed 13.3 mph Top speed 32mph
A great day, only 41 miles but it’s all about the people! About to leave Vernon, Nola and Bailey but found I had a flat tyre; so a quick tube change in the hallway and back on the road. It was hard to say goodbye and pulled on my heart strings but a weigh-in at the pharmacy showed I’d put on 1.5 kg since arriving. Thanks Nola! Your cooking is superb.

Au revoir
Down the hill with not much air in tyres and fully loaded was pretty hairy to say the least but Repsol free air sorted that. Then there was no stopping me until I spotted a German in trouble. Broken disk brakes were soon put in check by my trusty pliers and we were all back on the road. I made it to Benerafe in good time, 25miles in 1.5 hours. In time to buy Raul’s kids a gift and a bottle of wine (Ermintrude: Did they enjoy the wine?). Raul cooked me lunch and we chatted away until 4pm when he needed to be at the school. Eva and Lucia and Diego were great.
Then onto Malaga and some sightseeing on the way to my hotel :

Malaga Cathedral

Famous El Pimpi bodega bar

La Acazaba Malaga
which was a good hotel right next to the Picasso museum, but I had to carry the bike and bags up 4 flights of stairs! There was a single bedroom and I had a share of a kitchen with washing machine and cooker. I cooked pasta for my dinner and hit the town for a bar where I could watch the Liverpool v Manchester United match, where I met Brendon Mooney from Sky.

Meeting Brendan Mooney from Sky
We were both made redundant at same time. It really is a small world. A few beers at the Sherlock Holmes pub and a very dodgy kebab. Another great day.
