Day 16 4/8/16
Chateaubriand
Still managed 24 miles even on my day off.
Well, if Carlsberg did days off; this would be up there.
Had a lie in until 8.30. Brekkie of baguette Parisienne, melted Camembert and cold sausage. Sorted washing and chatted to Agnès for a while. Went back to Buffalo Grill to use wifi outside.
Checked out Intersport energy bars but they are too pricey. I’ll stick to Carrefour Kids chocolate Breakz!
Went to do my Nick Kamen (Levi’s ad) impression in the launderette but I was commando as pants were in wash. I didn’t want to excite the French public too much!

“Oh, oh, I heard It through the grapevine” Nick Kamen eat your heart out!
Rain has just arrived, hope my tent is still there when I get back. Went for a beer in betting shop of a bar with wifi. Bought a fishing pole and rig. Then walked round Chateaubriand Castle; very Interesting.

Chateaubriand Castle
Visited an exhibition of WW2 aircraft. Had another beer and went to Bere church which was open and so very beautiful inside. Won £75 on Premium bonds so I am going for chateaubriand steak tonight; After I’ve seen burlesque dancing in a thunderstorm. (It was cancelled… outdoor event, I can’t quite imagine what it would have been like!)
Ramazan, a local, bought me a beer while waiting for the thunderstorm to pass.

Waiting out the rain in Chateaubriand

Rainbow over Chateaubriand
Great skies and a rainbow followed the storm and now the chateaubriand steak is delicious!!! Well I did win on ERNIE today!!! Music is very good too. Right up my street : Torn – Natalie Imbruglia, U2, Lily Allen. Spandex Ballet.
(Ermintrude : New Romantic Lycra? or these http://spandexballet.com/)
I’ve decided days off means no budget!!!! Now I’m sitting in Bar La Bodega drinking Guinness with a Brummie landlord.
PS. I had to say au revoir to Agnès as she is off tomorrow but I will definitely keep in touch and meet up in Spain.
