Day 102 29th October
30miles (Cadiz on ferry) Average speed 8mph Top speed 19 mph
A great day that turned out not such a great evening!
Had brekkie of egg and cheese baguette. Then showered and made it to the ferry for 12 but the ferry didn’t depart until 12.50, so I went to a coffee shop and a bank while I waited in the strong wind. I got on the ferry with two other cyclists. I chatted to Roland and Francesca from Switzerland. They were staying at a campsite with a van and cycling around and had good advice about Cadiz. They were touring for four weeks and we talked about the area and our trips.
When the ferry arrived in Cadiz I went into town to see the sights and then cycled around the perimeter.
I went to the fort and the castle and saw the beaches, spending all day sightseeing. Had a late lunch of wraps, beer and crisps while watching the sunset on the beach.
The wraps were meant to be warmed in a microwave but they were fine cold. Had a drink in a beach bar and chatted to Vernon on FaceTime. Ferry back was at 9.30 so I checked out the festival in town and had another beer. I got on ferry and it was a party boat on the way back with a lot of locals singing and dancing and taking photos of me.
I got back and had a drink with the singing waiter before going to the Black and White bar and onto Bar Rodeo where unfortunately somebody stole my bar bag with iPad, passport, satnav and glasses. I tried to ask staff if it had been handed in but tricky in Spanish. Not a good end to a great day up to that point!
