Day 34 – Fouras les Bains

Fouras les Bains (and a boat trip around Fort Boyard)

19 miles cycling around average speed 8.4 mph top speed 19 mph

Now that’s what I call a day off.

Up late at 8.30. Went into town to market and bought sardines on ice. Went to see girl at tourist office and booked Fort Boyard boat trip. Looked for a bar to charge batteries but decided to get a bottle of rosé for lunch instead. Back at campsite relaxed with rosé and read book. 4.30 boat trip. I managed to get a seat at the front with spray coming over my feet.

Guided tour was all in French but I just enjoyed the ride and yachts, jet skis etc passing by. Took lots of photos. (Ermintrude ;  see separate post for lots of boat trip photos)

Had dinner on the beach of sardines and salad and sand. Found a lovely spot but a pair of naturists had same idea. Within 5 mins I’d seen them off. Set up a bit of wire from a fence to cook sardines over stove. I was looking for a coat hanger but couldn’t find one.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fantastic sunset and I took my first naked swim (if it’s good enough for the locals it’s fine by me. Very invigorating).

Incredible watching the sun go down and loved every minute.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Back into town to find a bar to charge batteries! Well that was my excuse. A late night and I struggled to find my way back. Brilliant day.
