Day 344                                                       28th June

70 miles (Kalmar to Lerakra)  Average speed 10.6 mph Top speed 42?? mph<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So much for some easy days! <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Up at 8.30 for brekkie of cheese and chorizo wraps (thanks Rolph) with tea. I packed up while some ducks came to say hi with the sun shining. I left at 10.30 and went too far north, but eventually found a really good straight cycle path. I stopped for a drink at ICA supermarket and used their sink for a wash. I couldn’t go on E22 but found the old E22 and followed that south for a while, but the wind favoured I head west, so I did; t<\/span><\/span>hrough good country roads and occasional villages.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I was feeling good and wanted to make the most of the tailwind so I carried on to the next town where I bought meatballs, pasta and tomatoes. I couldn’t join the motorway and could find no good route west. I headed for Nattraby where I ran out of roads and had to navigate through very narrow footpaths with rocks and horse trails. Then I came to one where two Jack Russells were barking at me, thankfully the owner called them off while wondering how I was going to get through! I too wondered as the path became very narrow and overgrown. As I tried to negotiate it I got an electric shock from the farmer’s fence. those poor cows!!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I made it to Listerby and my first choice of camp was beside somebody’s wood store, but I wasn’t sure, so carried on hoping for better. I looked just off the road but ended up on a golf course. I then said hi to a couple of touring cyclists who also were looking for somewhere. In the end I found a spot opposite the entrance to the golf club next to a big rock and a power generator. Cooked pasta and meatballs and was in bed by 10.30.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
