Day 345                                                       29th June

Awake at 6 with the sound of rain, but back to sleep till 8.30 when there was no sign it had rained at all. Rain looked imminent though, so I packed up quickly after tea and cheese wrap and was on the windy road by 10. The wind was strong behind me most of the day and I stopped for cinnamon buns at Lidl in Ronneby and headed south to Saxemara. It was a long way round but beautiful seaside villages. I then had to choose between another long way round and a footpath. The footpath won as it saved me about 5 miles so I followed a farm track through houses and missed the path completely but I did see a deer in the middle of a field.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I back-tracked and found a very narrow path through the woods which I managed on a fully laden bike without dismounting. I then had lunch at a road rest place with a table under a tree out of the drizzle, before deciding to don the wet weather gear and head for Karlshamn before the real heavy stuff started. I noticed there is a big derby footy match on so checked at the tourist office but there were no hotels or b&b in my price range, so I looked for a good spot on my way to a campsite which wanted 200 kr for a very wet night or 650 kr for a cabin. I went back to the Co-op to buy dinner and as the dark clouds approached, I cooked pasta and Kottballs again. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I have escaped the worst of the rain so far, but Stephan text me the forecast for 9cm of rain overnight, so I’m sure it’s coming; for now I will walk across to the stadium to watch the game. I’m staying directly above the stadium on a hill. I hope the drainage is good on the rock I’m perched on. All in all a good short day but I’ve got time to slow down and even hide out from the rain if necessary.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
