Day 248                                                  24th March<\/p>\n

12 miles (around Nimes)  Average speed 8.6mph  Top speed 80??mph<\/p>\n

A day of rain.<\/p>\n

I was awake at 7.30, and had cereal and tea for brekkie. I spent the next few hours sorting out bags and washing. I thought about fixing the tent but the glue needs 8 hours drying time. So with the idea of camping still in prospect I left it for later.<\/p>\n

There was no let up in the rain so I decided to stay in dorm another night.<\/p>\n

After lunch of leftover pasta I went to search of Decathlon and a new phone charger in the rain. I got soaked within minutes and stopped at a supermarket for coffee. Cycling through the streets in the rain was good fun.<\/p>\n

I  bought a new towel and water bottle at Decathlon and then walked along the shopping mall, but only as far as the Boulange shop, which I had assumed was bread, but turned out to be an electrical store. So I splashed out 10\u20ac on a proper lead. Hopefully it may last longer than the cheap ones.<\/p>\n

Then I saw a path that led in the right direction but it soon ran out and I had the choice of going back round or climbing the embankment.<\/p>\n

Stupidly I took the embankment. Slipping backwards down the muddy bank with the bike I got covered in mud. I went for a beer before heading back for a shower.<\/p>\n
