Day 292                                                      7th May<\/p>\n

12miles (Groningen) Average speed  7.6 mph Top speed  15 mph<\/p>\n

Up at 8.30 for brekkie of tea and bread and cheese. I unpacked the panniers from the bike and stored them in the room, then I had a shower and met Guy at 10. He’s always very organised and provided me with an itinerary for the morning. We visited many sights all around the city including the noord parc,<\/p>\n

Colourful new houses on the waterfront<\/p><\/div>\n

the new colourful houses on a marina and some very old tiny cottages from 1870’s before going on to visit the old Groningen footy stadium which is now flats. They had pictures in reception of former greats and a picture on the outside wall of the former stadium.<\/p>\n

We visited the very old university building where Guy graduated and the hospital he now works at. There were no bars or cafes open until 3 or 4 so we went back to his apartment for sausage sarnies and bitterballs. Then we caught the bus to the stadium and were in the ground 40 minutes before KO enjoying a beer.<\/p>\n
