Day 374                                                         28th July

Another day off bike. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Awake at 9 after a restless night listening to the radio and Rhod Gilbert podcasts. I booked into the hostel for another night and arranged to use the washing machine. I went to Aldi to buy brekkie of bread and pate and return my empties for refunds. Back at the hostel I made a few calls and lounged around surfing the Internet for flights from Italy. It seems I can pretty much go anywhere in the world I choose if I can bring myself to put the bike on a plane! There are good prices available.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then after washing everything including my sleeping bag I went to see if my bike would be ready, but it’s now set for 2 pm tomorrow, so I will need to arrange luggage storage at the hostel. On my way back Richard phoned to say we could meet in town. I met him at 4.15 and we had ice cream and went to an art gallery where some great artists were working that he has video recorded.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then he took me to a tough part of town where he currently lives for a great cheap pizza. We had a really good chat and I walked back to meet Will at the hostel, where we chatted about a wide range of topics over a couple of beers and he invited me to stay in Panama any time. We got on really well and I wished I’d invited him out for a drink, but I’m sure we will catch up again in the future. I’m now back in the Witches Cauldron bar with a bunch of summer students enjoying a beer and their end of term party. I met a woman from Turkanistan or somewhere like that, who is a warmshowers host and the only one in her country. We exchanged stories of warmshowers experiences and she told me of a cyclist who stayed with her for 60 days!! I was welcomed into the party and played darts and the hitting a nail into a log game but I was not very accurate with the hammer by that stage. Then chatted politics with Uwe and exchanged numbers before leaving at 3 am.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
