Day 592                                                        4th March

5 miles (<\/span><\/span>Pauba to Maresias) Average speed 7.2 mph Top speed 30mph<\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span>I got up at 8 and took my time to pack up while trying to avoid the mosquitoes and showered before leaving at 10.45. As soon as I left my left knee began to hurt as I struggled through the sand. I stopped for a packet of Tuc biscuits and a can of Sprite and then took on the first and only hill of the day. My knee was too painful and I knew I needed to stop at the first chance.<\/p>\n

Luckily there was a choice of hostels and although a bit pricey at 65 reais, I needed ice and ibuprofen, so with a freezer packed with ice, a fan and air con I rested for a while and then took a walk along the beach and to the supermarket to buy lunch.<\/p>\n

I had the 6 bed dorm to myself and made good use of it to relax. I cooked pizza in the oven for dinner and had an early night.<\/p>\n
