Day 917                                                 23rd January 2019

15 miles (Chereting) Average speed 9.5 mph Top speed 18 mph<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/span>An interesting restful day off of sorts.<\/p>\n

I got up at 8 and had coffee and an orange for brekkie, followed by a second one with the two guys working at the site, of sausages and chips. We talked a lot and also chatted with Chris and Stephanie. I went for a swim to try and ease the sandfly rash that I had on my back due to not wearing a shirt last night. The salt helped a bit.<\/p>\n

Then I read my book and chilled before going to find an ATM at the Shell garage. I bought some sardines for lunch with toast and some fishing tackle. I was just getting ready to go out to dinner with the Swiss when Stephanie called Chris and I to come and help at the beach. A four wheel drive Ford pick up had got stuck in the sand and was about to be engulfed by the incoming tide. Chris packed the tent in his roof while I ran down to take the tow rope to attach to the Ford. The car was full of water and sinking fast but we managed to rescue them just in time.<\/p>\n

We had a drink in the beach bar and then went to the eco bar for pizza. They went back to the campsite, but it was only 10.30, so I went to another bar on the beach and met the guy from the campsite. We had a few and then went on to the Monkey bar where I played pool and they sang karaoke.<\/p>\n

I had a good chat with the German owner’s wife and didn\u2019t get back until 3.30 in the rain. I slept on the sofa as my hammock was wet.<\/p>\n
