Day 132 28th November
22miles (Alcaucin to Zaffaraya) Average speed 7.2mph Top speed 32 mph
A superb ride through the natural park up to Ventas de Zaffaraya. Uphill most of the way on unmade road which had lots of ruts due to the rain, but beautiful scenery all the way.

In the Natural Park – what a view!
Stopped at a picnic spot full of sheep where I played shepherd and enjoyed the views.

Playing shepherd, it’s harder than it looks, but at least they’re not cats
Then took some photos and the bike was overtaken by fly larvae.

Bike over-run by fly larvae – life gives me lots of new experiences!
On to Zaffaraya for coffee before the long run down which I’d done 2 months earlier in the twilight.vThis time I viewed a derelict house and the mountains in all their glory. I cut off on the slip road to Zarate and onwards, where I found a run-down house which I would love to buy, but it was inhabited by a white horse, and as I later found out from Raul, a ghost!

This horse has the run of the house… it looks good from here, but this is the best view, the rest is almost a ruin
Back to Alcaucin for beer while waiting for the shop to open. Then back up to the bungalow to watch the sunset and have dinner of chicken kebabs and jacket potatoes cooked on the open fire.
