A great way to spend my birthday riding into wind and rain! Although I really enjoyed achieving my goal. It was tough at times but very enjoyable too. I stopped at a frites wagon for lunch and the girl was great to chat to and I was so glad of some hot food instead of a sarnie on the roadside.

It was good to get out of the wind and make use of her gas heater. There were some good cycle paths but often they take you a long way round so sometimes I opted for the road to reach my goal.
Well I made it. I’m in Groningen.

53 miles into the wind and rain. There is no better way to celebrate. Amer, my new friend from Iran, has just bought me a birthday beer in the youth hostel I’m staying in tonight.
My goodness, when did watching Man U become so boring! Jose is not doing it for me!! I can’t believe I’m bored with watching footy on tv; It’s much better live. Liege was good last week.
