Awake at midnight with the sound of wind, rain and thunder which, although I got back to sleep, didn’t stop until midday. So I spent the morning in my tent catching up on some sleep and making some notes. I packed up at midday as the rain ceased and was on the road by 1 after brekkie of bread and cheese and cinnamon bun.

I got into town and tried to use a toilet in a shopping centre out of the drizzle, but it required 5KR and I had no change but at least I could get into the first door to brush my teeth. I went on the old E22 for a while but it was busy with lorries so I found a short cut, but with no water I needed to find some supplies. I saw a couple sitting outside their house in their very ornate garden and stopped to ask for water. The dog tried to attack me but the people were very nice and gave me water while keeping the dog occupied with a Frisbee.

I carried on into the rain and got back to the E22 where I stopped at a campsite I’d stopped at before. This time there are no Korns (Ermintrude: No idea what this is) on sale but there was a restaurant where I got a coffee and charged my phone. Then it was on to a cycle path for quite about 12 miles.
