Day 609 21st March 2018
1 mile (Tatuape) Average speed 5.5mph Top speed 12mph
I got up at 9 and the bread was stale, so I went to buy more and had cheese and tomato rolls with tea for brekkie. I took my time getting ready as I couldn’t check in til 2 and the hostel was only around the corner. I packed up and showered then said goodbye to Potira.
I need to say a big thank you to Vini Rodrigues and Potira for their wonderful hospitality over the last two days, for welcoming me into their home and cooking food for me and giving me a place to rest my head away from the thunderstorms of São Paulo. I cannot express how the generosity of strangers on this trip has helped me out time and time again. A big thank you to Mayta too for introducing me to them.
I went for a short ride and sat in a park with workers on their lunch break.
I checked in and relaxed in bed for a while before taking a walk. I had a beer in the bar opposite the hostel, but they only had burgers to eat, so I walked to a restaurant up the road and had chicken, rice and chips. I chatted to the two waiters about my trip and then found a bar with footy on and tried a shot of 51, it’s foul, I won’t be drinking that again!
