Day 4 – Audinghen to Merlimont

Day 4                                                        23/7/16

57 miles ( Audinghen to Merlimont) average speed 9.7 mph top speed 33mph

via Boulogne-sur-Mer, Hardelot and Etaples

Porridge

Slow start stopped at Carrefour for Brie, bread, crisps for lunch at Hardelot beach

Nearly lost electrics but saved by strap of pannier. Did lose a shoe out of same pannier. Lightens the load but they were lightweight sketchers! If weather stays the same may send waterproofs and gloves on ahead.

Visited Etaples war memorial very emotive.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

No camp at Le Touquet busy

No camp at Merrimoux.

Tourist office said no place available, not even bed, but on d940 out of town spotted Camping de l’Epy

Cooked first dinner of pasta with shop sauce and chile flakes on wood burning stove and charged phone 3% Washed down with €2.60 wine. Tasted ok to me!

My carbon footprint is looking great but only one footprint at the moment as I lost a shoe!!(see above)

Party in town, terrible singer and fireworks.

Lovely sunset over massive beach.

 

Lots of admiring looks and some of disbelief at luggage.

On budget including beer at fireworks. €28 today

Campsite ; Camping de l’Epy €11.00 with shower.
