Day 959 6th March 2019

A nice relaxing day.
I got up at 9 for coffee and toast, did my washing and read in my hammock. I left at 2.15 as Pauline was tired and didn’t want to go to the beach. I went to tourist office to get a map of Perlis and chatted with the two girls. I checked the ferry price and went to see the eagle with two Russian girls.

Then I went to St Regis resort but they wouldn’t let me in so I went back to another resort and cycled through the barrier and down to the beach. It was a nice beach but the water was a bit dirty. I tried snorkelling but the water was cloudy and too shallow. I was expecting to be kicked out so didn’t try the infinity pool. On the way out I found a fountain to wash my feet and went to buy some after shave. Then I had chicken noodles and a couple of beers before going with Eugene, Julian and Nirze, a German girl, to watch sunset from the top of a hill with fantastic views. It was interesting to see how they got a lorry full of logs up a type of dirt track by towing with a digger but a bit dusty and very noisy.

Back at the hostel I had a couple more beers and some peanuts with anchovies, an unusual combo but tasty all the same. I chatted to Julian and a Japanese guy and was impressed by listening to them talk. In bed at 1am after discussing the option of going to Ko Lipe with Pauline. I decided to go via the mainland but may see her later in the week.
