Day 64 21/9/16
36 miles (Cordoba to Castro del Rio) Average speed 10.2 mph Top speed 35 mph
Got up at 9, went to get money and bread. Then a slow pack after brekkie of omelette, cheese and chorizo. I was a bit fragile this morning after those whiskies so didn’t leave until 1pm, after making a few calls.
I went into town for some sightseeing and met a couple of ladies from Chile who were so impressed they wanted photos of me. Got them to take one with my phone and exchanged details of SPC blog and emails.

Colonnade beside the Patio de los Naranjos, Cordoba Cathedral-Mosque
There was a beautiful girl playing cello, My Way, Let It Be and a few more. I stayed and had a coke because her music was wonderful.

Beautiful girl, beautiful music
Found CF Cordoba footy ground and then headed south as I was on n432 and decided to carry on.

It was a great ride and quite hot. 33°C I think. A tough one with lots of ups and fast downs.

Landscape
Saw lots of birds and a fire. The traffic wasn’t too bad and it seems only the coaches and buses that are not as considerate as the lorries. A few stops along the way for refreshments; Vacar being particularly good with apple pie and Fanta limon. A big climb up to Epoji and then a fantastic run all the way to Castro del Rio. Found a great room at Bar Canijo for €17 with aircon and a balcony to dry my washing. A quick beer and as I was going to shower I heard music at the end of the street and had to investigate. It was the town’s band practice.

Band Practice
Then I noticed a bike shop two doors from my room and bought a spare tyre as I’ve lost mine (boom boom) and mine are wearing thin after nearly 3000 miles! I then had dinner at bar Córdoba who were very welcoming and translated the menu in their phone! Great stew soup and flamequin, a local dish a bit like chicken Kiev but with ham inside.

Watched Real Madrid draw 1-1 with Valliodolid and then back to bar of my room.

Main course – flamequin with chips and side salad

Watching football in bar with locals
A couple of whiskey and cokes with some very drunk locals and a couple of coppers who were there for Barca v Athletico , I’m starting to fit in!
Decided to have tomorrow off as I’m making good time and hope to get a massage.
