Day 130 26th November
Alcaucin
I’ve been relaxing in one of Raul’s lovely bungalows. He has been so generous it’s hard to believe. We have eaten together and had a few beers too. It’s been wonderful to have the place to myself and relax and to sleep without the interruptions or noise of hostel life. This place is so beautiful its breathtaking.

Low cloud over Alcaucin
I was up at 9am to clean the bungalow as new tenants were due at 12 and Raul had said he would be down to clean at 10. I had an omelette and was packed and ready to go, but of course I will have to remember that in Spain 10 means 11.15. Cycled into town for money and had a coffee to avoid the rain. I bought some sweets for Diego and Lucia then went back up to Raul’s restaurant, where I met his parents and played with the kids. It rained pretty much all day but it was good to see the river flowing.

Restaurant garden
Played ball with Diego and had a delicious dinner of albondigas con salsa de miel de axaquia and mostaza – meatballs in honey and mustard sauce. Just as we were finishing Henrik from Denmark came in and although they were about to close for the day, they gave him the same meal I had just enjoyed. I tried to help out but Raul’s reply was you can help by drinking some beer. I chatted to Henrik while Raul went to sort out water in the bungalows. Henrik paid for dinner, which Raul would not let me do, and we had a good chat about his journey by car through the mountains. He has converted the car by taking out the seats and adding a folding bed. He had a bike on a rack and was very organise.
